
Wat Mahathat Wachiramongkol Located at Ban Bang Tong, Na Nuea Sub-district, Ao Luek District, Krabi Province, built in 1997. 1940 on land donated by Mr. Plao Thongsiri, Mr. Man Pengkit and Mr. Nuam Dumphan. Formerly, this temple was known by the villagers as "Wat Bang Tong", named after the village where it was located. Wat Bang Tong received Wisungkhamsima on February 13, 1953. Wisungkhamsima was 30 meters wide and 70 meters long, and had a tying ceremony on March 14, 1976. In the year 2002, when people and agencies from various sectors in the province Krabi jointly organized “Buddhist Place and Phra Mahathat Chedi Building Project in honor of the 50th birthday anniversary of Maha Vajiralongkorn” at this temple. with the objective to honor His Majesty the King which at that time held the royal title Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn on November 16, 2006 His Majesty the King Royally renamed Wat Bang Tong as "Wat Mahathat Vajiramongkhon" and brought the monogram "M.W.K." to be enshrined at the gable of the ubosot. While the statue of the Lord Buddha to use the name "Phra Buddha Thaksin Chai Mongkhon" "Phra Mahathat Chedi" was influenced by Maha Chedi Phutthakhaya Place where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment in Gaya, Bihar, India Standing tall and prominent in the middle of the temple with a height of 95 meters, it is considered the tallest pagoda in the South.
